Arthur S. Nowick Honorary Symposium

A memorial symposium was held in honor of Professor Arthur Stanley Nowick, a distinguished educator and a leading figure in Solid State Ionics and relaxation processes in crystalline and amorphous solids. From 1966-1993 he taught at Columbia University, following an illustrious career at the IBM Watson Research Center. Prof. Nowick was the author of more than 200 seminal publications in the fields of materials science and physics.

The honorary symposium, chaired by Harry Tuller, was held as a satellite symposium in conjunction with the 19th International Conference on Solid State Ionics, in Kyoto, Japan.  A program of distinguished speakers was featured at the symposium.
