4th Exploratory Round Table Conference

Tuller was invited to participate in the 4th Exploratory Round Table Conference on Electrochemistry – Revisited, held in Shanghai, China, November 18-20, 2013.  Tuller’s talk was entitled, “Micro and Nano Ionic Thin Film Electrode Structures: What the Future Holds.” By invitation only, the 50 Exploratory Round Table Conference participants presented scientific talks on the frontiers of their fields, incorporating a look into the future of their fields in the coming 5-10-year timeframe. The major emphasis of the Round Table Conference was the discussion of future directions in the field of electrochemistry, with the goal of developing recommendations for cooperation and collaboration on research goals.

The Exploratory Round Table Conferences (ERTCs) are a new joint activity of the Max Planck Society (MPS) in Germany and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The ERTCs go beyond the traditional conference, exploring future directions in the fields.  The ERTCs provide a platform for leading scientists from Germany, China and other countries to exchange ideas and discuss emerging research topics. The resulting ERTC reports are communicated to both the general scientific community and to science policymakers.
